Quick question. If the guy behind you gets a good run because you blew the corner, do you still defend the inside? I wouldn't call it blocking since it was only one move to the inside to defend the line. It was also at nearly the same time you moved over to the inside, so I believe he had already planned to do it before he saw you move. Now if he had moved back to the right when you did, that would have definitely been blocking, but as it was, I would just call it running a defensive line.

That's exactly why I asked the question. You guys are good at keeping an open mind. Though at the time it may have felt like a block or aggressive defense, I wasn't sure. Coming down Conrod the lap before he made no move to defend the inside as I came up beside him. Probably could have passed him then, but wasn't confident I wouldn't drift into him through the chase.

I had a good race. No incidents for once. Ryan made an awesome pass on me going into the kink and glenn knew what octane of fuel I was using by the end. Shame that both had issues. My car felt rediculously tight all race. Need to see what I need to change. This was after adjusting the arbs and bb. Right front was considerably more worn out than everyone else's I talked with after the race. I was @76% at my pit stop and 79% at end of race. Maybe I was just pushing too hard as well.

Troy, I appreciate the kind words and the sage advice and I'll be sure to keep that in mind going forward. I was telling Tim in the race last night that it takes me a good 3 laps to settle into the race. It's the same as when I was playing baseball too; I usually had to get through that first inning and first AB before I felt 100% settled. It sure would be nice to get to a point where I can settle in sooner though. The only opened door during our race.

Just to add my thoughts, I agree with Danill, even thought its one move, you are blocking if you make your move after the trailing car made his. Defending (to me) is made before the trailing car makes his. I know a few times last night I would place my car in a defending position even if a move wasn't coming. If a driver I know is quicker then me and I am holding them up I usually don't give them much of a fight. But if a driver is at the same speed or slower then me I try to defend and force them into a mistake. If you get a run and can get to my inside before the corner I will give the inside but I may not give you the exit If can stay with you on the outside Danill and I had a good nose to tail battle all race, if you have the replay take a look and see what we did. I think it was a prefect balance of respect and not giving and inch, well that is how I feel about, Danill was behind me for the start and had a few opportunities to get around but I wasn't giving it way.

I tried making a move on you once, but was kinda cautious since I've had zero off-the-line practice with this week's weather. After that I just decided to save a bit of fuel and try to jump you in the pits.
I'm thinking of starting something like 'side-by-side Wednesdays' on official practice servers where I'd practice going through corners 2-wide with anyone interested. This is the thing I miss the most from racing other (slower) cars. Passes are at a premium in the V8SC, gotta be prepared for them when the opportunity comes.

It's good experience and a lot of fun. I was messing with my video capture last night and recorded the whole session. Here's what I got (after some editing of course). There are still a few bugs to work out (audio sync).

What do you guys use when you capture your video? I'm pretty new to the whole capture and share thing, I used Debut Video Capture to get that footage. I'm kind of meh about it. The one feature I like about it is that I can highlight a particular part of the screen and it will only capture that part. That's how I got that footage and kept my triple screens. Unfortunately, I have to run iracing in windowed mode to do that. I still don't know what kind of hit my frame rate will take with a field of cars during a race. Also, all of my video captures have audio sync issues. Not sure how I'm going to fix that. Edit: If you run single screen and have an Nvidia card, take a look at shadowplay. Not very feature rich, but it is outstanding at getting video capture with very little impact on resources.

Ya i have a nvidia card but I run triples as well. I was looking at a avermedia card but it looks like it only supports single monitor resolutions.

What do you guys use when you capture your video? I use "Action!" by Miirllis, I used Dxtory for the longest time (up until YouTube released its 60 frame codex), and I've played with ShadowPlay as well. Of those three programs my favorite has been Action because it is less CPU intensive, which keeps my frame rate from dipping too much. Dxtory, even with the lossless codex, still puts a serious hit on your CPU and it can crash iRacing when you start or stop a recording if too much is going on. I know recently Tim figured out a way to record just his middle monitor using Dxtory and the quality looks great but I'm skeptical about how well the frame rate will hold up in race conditions.

OBS allows you to just capture the middle screen of a triple monitor setup. It's relatively easy to use, doesn't impact frame rate too much, takes good quality video, and it's free. edit: I have never tried it with iRacing, though, since my computer isn't fast enough to run triples and record while staying over 60fps.
