Since this was a pretty popular thread on the old forum, I figured I'd bring it here.
And I'll start it with a quick shot of my first win in iRacing.
I qualified on pole for the 3rd split. Managed to keep 1st through the entire race. 2nd did keep me honest by staying within 1.5 seconds for the first half of the race. Man what a relief to finish, I was battling trying to stay calm and race smooth.
Edit: Just looked, somehow I finished the race with 0 inc. That may be a first for me also.

Congratulations my race was ....................... first lap incident in which i came down on a car in T1 and suffered some damage, started 6th, ended 6th
Yeah that second split left a lot to be desired. I need to apologize to Troy. Going into T3 I caught a little grass and ended up (while trying to get back under control) clipping him on the driver side door. I hope your race wasn't ruined. I know mine sure was after the pile up at T1.

Congrats Jason on your win.
I had a terrible race. Too many cars going 3 wide into T1. I managed to get by the carnage only to get spun out of T3 and thrown off the world. Had no choice but to wait for the tow back to the pits. My car was fine, but I was a lap down. After that I just ran a bunch of clean laps to minimize the SR hit from the 4x car contact. Only lost .08 SR and 65 iRating. No big deal, you win some, you lose some.
Yup a win is a win. I have only had 1 overall win on iRacing and it came in the V8. It wasn't my best race but I managed to win it.
I used to make a highlight video for the V8 Americas races, a while ago. This was my win, but I messed up the render and some of the footage was lost but most of it is there.
Turn One continues to be a problem. Tonight in the Australian SOF race (2nd split) my nose was cut off by a driver who was suffering from a bit of "monkey see, monkey do" as he followed the car in front of him into the apex without even considering that I was on his inside. We were close enough that his spotter would have been telling him that I was there. I'm posting some screenshots below the video to show you how close we were going into T1. Despite this incident we both managed to finish strong. I claimed my first V8SC podium (3rd place) and he finished 6th.
Lastly, I want to address a concern that I've heard come up in private conversation. For you V8SC veterans...how do you feel about this season thus far? Do you feel that the quality of racing is on par with past seasons? Is there any indication that the recent influx of drivers has had a negative impact upon your experience or the overall skill of the drivers participating in the V8SC? Also, do you see this as just a phase, a period of adjustment, for the new drivers (myself included) of the series and by next season the quality of racing (if in fact negatively impacted) will return to equilibrium once all these new drivers have had an entire under their belts?

The racing in league is as good as its ever been in my opinion. I think we have a pretty strong group here and if someone does mess up they take accountability immediately.
In the official races ( ie Americas series) i see a lot of elbows up but i have also been involved in some great races that were clean, there are a lot of new guys racing and i believe the racing will get better

Nice race. My win wasn't my best race either. My lap times were about a half second slower than they should have been. I suspect that's partly because I was nervous about leading the race. They guy running second stayed within about 1.5 seconds of me until he made a mistake late in the race. He wasn't pressuring me, but he was close enough that a small mistake by me could have made the difference.
Tony- I've heard the same type of comments, especially about the lower split races. My experience in the V8s has been positive, but I have been in races that had incidences resulting in pretty strong words, or ended a few driver's races. The Americas races are usually pretty good, though the first couple laps on the Friday races can be.... Intense. The GRA races OTOH have all been good. Clean racing and good communication. I've only trouble I've had in this series is missing messages from people without a mic, and that isn't limited to the series.
