Well guys & gals, I haven't got a clue when, or if, I will be getting back. I had a bronchoscopy the 27th of March to biopsy the growths(s) on my right lung, results supposed to be back on Tuesday. While recovering from the procedure my heart decided to take a wild stroll on its own and went into tachycardia (rate of 140ish). Aftert a few hours in ER it finally decided to calm down and I got to go home. What should have been 4 hours max. turned into 7.5. Anyway, things went well thru the weekend and Monday. Tuesday I started to feel a bit off and finally decided to take myself in to the ER in the early evening. It's quite disconcerting to watch your heart rate go from 60ish to 150ish and then watch a flat line for a few seconds. Rate kept going slow to extremely fast and many pauses interspersed. Got to be quite the center of attention in the ER. Diagnosis, Atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. Transferred to another hospital and a procedure the following day to correct the flutter and things seemed to be okay. Was preparing to go home the next day, but then after having a 6 second pause in my heart rate (yes i felt it) they decided that they needed to install a pacemaker. In between the flutter correction and the pacmaker install I contacted my pulmonologist and got the results of the biopsy. Cancer. I got home yesterday and am trying to get my feet underneath me.
It is possible that I will need another procedure to correct the atrial fib, but that will wait for a month or two as we see how the heart behaves with everything that has happened so far. I have followups to schedule with my new cardiologist this week. As for the cancer, my pulmonologist was kind enough to offer to get info for me for followup on the cancer and so that should start this week, maybe next. Still have the cataract surgeries set and am hoping to keep those and get that out of the way.
Loads of fun. You all take care.
