I hope i got your attention as i wasn't sure where to post this and i would like everyone to see this Brian Webb has recently joined our league. I've known Brian for about a year now and he has been very helpful for me to understand setups and general technical stuff. I will let him (when he is ready) provide his full background and bio but he has real life experience as a race car engineer. Brian and i had talked some time ago around producing a racers guide to approaching a new race track we have all been there, new track, unfa.miliar with the layout, no idea on setup etc. What do we normally do? Jump in a car and go fast as hell and go off track a hundred times? Who's been there? ? Be honest now, we all do it. Brian takes a different approach and has agreed to do a guide for the upcoming race at VIR, its in installments so check back a couple of times here is the first installment docs.google.com/document/d/1sBotduCsti-rqr88sMZA9MCMozpSTWsO-E53zv3cDHM/edit?usp=sharingif you like it please comment here, maybe we can persuade him to do a couple more.

Next installment added. This takes you through the "walk around the track" and up to preparing for first lap.

Great detail Brian, i think this will help a lot of our newcomers get themselves organized. This is a great learning tool
Thank you

Very well done guys! I like the setup naming convention too. I'll be incorporating that for myself from here on out. I never though to add the P# (practice session) and versions before. That makes total sense.

Glad I got telemetry working on my PC again. I'm learning so much about this car! Write-ups are fun to do too! I just skimmed over the telemetry file you sent me and WOW! We drive the car very differently. Just comparing the single hot lap we did, I am much more aggressive with the car in all aspects. Throttle, brakes, and steering input. You lean on the brakes a lot more than I do to assist in inducing yaw in the car to get through corners (4 wheel steering per se), something I am not confident in doing with this car yet, and instead ask the front tires to do more work than you ask of yours. T9 in particular at the top of the climbing esses, you had 1/3 the steering input that I did, and producing more lateral Gs while taking the corner. It was really interesting watching the split yo-yo back and forth between us. Through the gains and losses, I came out slightly ahead going into T17 and T17a. You were able to put the power down a fraction sooner which give you the few hundredths of a second quicker lap time in the end

Interesting that you said Tony was less aggressive. Glen and I always point out to him how much more fuel he uses I think we should have a Telemetry class.

He does use a bit more fuel on average yes. I mean aggressive as in smoothness of inputs. I enjoy throwing the car around, and somehow the tires don't hate me at the end of the run.

Fuel Usage ComparisonTony's data are laps 48-52 on the bottom. My fuel usage on the hotlap that mirrored Tony's time was 1.00 gallons.

Personal life got in the way, plus I accidently deleted the telemetry from the runs that are in the next segment of the guide, so I had to redo the runs last night to get new data. I'll get the stuff posted by tonight hopefully.

Just saw this thread. Unfortunately, "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist." when I tried to access the file. Definitely interested in seeing what has been put together.
