I had good pace last night but my computer was acting up, which caused a couple self-spins. Ugh.
Was able to get the car into the low 42s in Q, which was good for P4 on the grid. I took it real easy on the start and lost a couple positions. Mainly did that because I knew the car was very loose the first two laps, and I didn't want to mess up and harm someone else's race. So, dropped down to P6 on the first lap and just fell in line.
My first self-spin came when I had a big screen freeze coming out of the left sweeper in the infield. Ended up spinning driver's left and collected Glenn Sidman. My apologies there... I know you had damage from that. Anyways, let the field go by and then got going again. Had race pace generally in the low 43s, and gradually got myself back through the field. Eventually was back running in P6 before my second self-spin. That one occurred at the transition from the infield to the high-banks. I think it was a combo of a slight screen freeze, and spinning up the rear tires at just the wrong point at the transition. Fortunately, I didn't collect anyone this time, and kept going. Got back a place that I lost (Eduardo... he he he) and finished the race, IIRC, in P7. Happy with that, but I have to solve this computer issue.
Checking my Processes after the race, I saw that a file called MsMpEng.exe was consuming something like 50% of my CPU capacity. Did some quick research on it and saw that it is part of an anti-malware program. I also have several instances of svchost.exe running, but they did not seem to be consuming any CPU capacity. In any event, a couple leads at least to work on, and I'll try to get that sorted before the season starts. I certainly don't want to be a hazard to people due to a glitchy computer. Ugh.
Anyway, great running with everyone last night... good stuff from everyone from what I could see. I'm glad I landed here!
