Happy Holidays Gents! I've put together a summary of the calendar and format that we are planning to move forward on.
I. Draft Schedule
I took into consideration your comments about scheduling with other leagues and did my best to select tracks that fit into the various calendars. For season 1, we decided a shorter schedule was preferable, with fewer Enduros, so we can quickly review the decisions we've made and modify it (if necessary) before launching season 2. February 7, is TBD pending the release of Monza.
II. Race Format
We'll review these at the end of the season and (based on your input) either keep or change the format.
Fast Tows = 1 free tow allowed
Yellow Flags = Permitted at the race steward's discretion
Race Distance = 1 Hour 45 minutes (Daytona); 1 Hour 15 minutes (all other)
Fuel Capacity = Modified to 30-35 minutes of driving to introduce different pit-strategies
III. Championship Details
Points = 35, 32, 30, 28, etc...
Overall Driver's Series = Based on best 4 out of 5 races (i.e. one drop race is allowed)
Teams Series = 2 Drivers per teams, based on best 5 out of 5
Gentleman Racer's Trophy = Based on lowest incidents per corner, 5 out of 5 races
IV. Car Class - Single or Multi?
[edited] During our survey, the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of running the Daytona Prototype (DP=17, GT=10, DW12=9 ...). Many of you also expressed an interest in diong multi-class racing.
Since then, we have determined that there's very little enthusiasm for running GT cars with Ballast, or combining the DP car with Ruf CSpec only. So the final question we're still considering is single class vs. multi-class; and if multi-class, what's the most popular combination of vehicles. To that end, we're hosting two last exhibition races on January 3rd (LMP2/GT) and January 10th (LMP2/DP).
V. Other "To-Do's"
Over the holiday break, I'll put together a graphic logo for our league - I'll post these on the forums for you to preview. Finally, I also want to put together a basic set of competition rules to help review on-track incidents - these will be based on NASA/SCCA competition rules - I'll also post these on the forums for you all to preview.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you all on the track soon!
