This race started out well but with about ten minutes left in the race disaster struck in the form of a loss concentration. I started cruising when I had a sizable buffer between myself and P5 with no hopes of catching P3. So after messing up a few laps in a row and realizing that I was running way slower than I should I decided to step it up. The next lap I swung wide, clipped maybe 1/4 of a tire width of grass and sped off to introduce myself to the wall. Here is my face plant into the wall. Here is an image from lap 1 with the field still stacked together.

I had such a great race..... Never knew I could get a stop and go and 4 slow downs in a single race..... Just plain awful.

As Ken can attest to from Road Atlanta, the slow down penalties that occur when you've not established your normal lap time are absolutely ridiculous. I had a tiny cut in the second turn (never even happened during practice) of the second lap. Had to slow down at least 10 seconds because it was calculating based off the fact that my lap time was 1:49 or so (almost ten seconds off the pace) because my opening lap was that time. How can iRacing not just use a normal time?? Or base it off my qualify time + 2 seconds or whatever. The current system is just stupid.

My last 2 weeks at work have been crazy busy, hopefully it should calm down this week and I can get back on track next week.

It was rather ridiculous because I might have gained .010 of a second by slightly cutting T1's left curbing. The slow downs are just poorly designed and are not uniformed. If there is a penalty I think they should display it on screen instead of making it a guessing game.

If there is a penalty I think they should display it on screen instead of making it a guessing game. Couldn't agree more. I've heard a lot of people clamoring for SOME sort of display. No way in a real race would a driver be told to slow down or whatever without knowing HOW much. I can't imagine him being told to stop in the pits but not being told how long to stop for / how long of a penalty to serve. Whether it is a graphic that displays how much time you need to give back, or a more detailed display that has a delta-type bar that pops up that shows how much more time you need to give back. The graphic doesn't even need to tick down if it is just a simple time display, but telling me exactly how much i need to lose would be not just useful but much more realistic than a "slowdown until I tell you" type thing...

We're sliding off topic but I gained nothing at Road Atlanta on Lap 1 yet literally stopped in the snake to let the field by only to get a Black Flag and 18 second stop and go in the Pits.
For a database driven program that records every lap you make to penalize you this far out of your normal lap is utter nonsense. This and the meatball system favoring the hitter over the hit need fixing ricky-tick because there not buggy there flat out broken.
...but I digress.
I was looking forward to a good race last night and was in a heated battle for 5th when I put it in the wall outside of T1.
I really have to address throttle control because I struggle in this car. I'm almost wondering if I need to somehow adjust my throttle control shaping to accommodate the lack of mobility/sensitivity I have in my right foot?

cut penalties are different at every course, montreal just seems to be the worst ( maybe a review of length of each cut on each course needs a review) but the best course of action is not to get them, it can be done, ask TROY you have some great suggestions lets see what happens for the next build
