I have been chatting with a handful of guys who love running GT3 and last night I decided to get into a few races with them. Although I wasn't shocked by what I saw (it's GT3 after all), it did inspire me to make this quick video. It's nice to know that some things never change.

I know what happened there, the yellow BMW had the Mario kart banana peel add on.

Last year in Season 1 of the GT3 series, I did 92 races. Back then it was only McLarens and RUFs, I was hooked on the RUF when it first released. I started many of those races from the pits for the very reason you showed in the video. I never finished last and a few races I got a top 5. I even had one win. Season 2 the racing got worse and it kept going downhill from there, so I stopped running it.

Like you I started running GT3 at its inception and like you I stopped because the quality of racing started to go drastically downhill. I think a sestemic problem with GT3, especially the top split, is that a good amount of those racing in GT3 care more about their iRating than they do having a good racing experience. It was when I started regularly getting into the top splits that I noticed more and more dangerous drivers and questionable race craft. And this concern over iRating would be broadcasted when somebody would wreck out. "Oh there goes 100 iRating," I'd hear them say through the in-game comms. It's like any other game with a statistic that has become a community recognized representation of the player/driver's percieved skill. K/D, W/L, and SPM for shooters like CoD and BF and here iRating for iRacers. However, It would be nice if stuff like this would fall by the wayside so iRacers could race for the sake of racing and not for the ego measuing of their iRating. Honestly...I could go on for much longer but I'll cut myself off here.

My thought is the same across oval or road, the more difficult the car, the cleaner the racing.
