Ran a couple laps tonight. Here is the setup I was tinkering with. Pretty much impossible to spin it out, except at turn to come back onto NASCAR turn 1. Be careful there. I believe it's decently balanced, but I think it needs more weight on the LF. I was turning 1:50 flats with ease, and pushed it to a 1:49.5. Leaders are in the 1:47s, but I don't think that matters for a race like this. We're built for comfort, not speed. daytona road.sto (1.82 KB)

Okay, with the addition of "bill" (unless it's bill kreutzer), we make a six driver team. Not bad.
There's some things we have to do.
1. WE DO NOT WANT TO PULL A "WAYNE TAYLOR RACING" AND BE CAUGHT OUT WITH DRIVER FAIR SHARE. Someone calculate this, please.
2. map our keys/buttons/input switches for pit road speed limiter, traction control, and EFI burn (highly doubt we need the last two, but you never know).
3. practice driver swaps several times, INCLUDING TURNING THE ENGINE OFF DURING THE PIT STOPS. We MUST find out how long the engine sits on pit road before it blows up.
4. pre-stint checklist (food, drink, headset/mic charged, pit road speed limiter hotkey, pedals calibrated, etc.)
5. team setup
6. team skin
7. profit
Here is some of Tony Kloosterman's advice:
Also, it looks like Never Quit Racing is putting in an HPD. We can consider them teammates!
I think that if we come in prepared and work as a team, we can put up a great showing, and have a chance to win.

I think Troy dropped out, so we have 5 drivers.
FAIR SHARE REQUIREMENTS
Greg commented that the HPD leader in his split did 859 laps, and the GT3 leader was 78 laps behind him. So the GT3 leader in that split managed 781 laps. If we round that up to 800 laps to give ourselves a bit of a buffer….. So each driver needs to complete a minimum of 40 laps. (Assuming Greg’s split wasn’t a crazy outlier or anything)
2) EFI burn? I assume you mean the fuel map? We should be running full the entire time, you lose too much on straights for it to be worth it.
3) SETUP
We can work on the setup this week in some official sessions. Or hosted if people want that more. If no one else is doing the paint I can try and whip one up. It won't be that great though. I would like to try and keep the wing farther down than 18 though.
SPLITTING SYSTEM Just wanted to mention the splitting system for team races as it is now. It will only average the drivers in a team that are registered for the race before it launches.
So if I were to be the only one registered at the start. It would only use my iRating to determine the split (My iRacing is 2892, so that would be our team iRating). If Bill and I were registered for the event at the start it would average both of our iRatings. Team iRating = (2892+1053)/2=1972.5

40 laps shouldn't be an issue for anyone.
Good to know on the fuel map. (I couldn't think of what it was called when I was typing before)
Play with the wing and tell me where you like it.
Is it advantageous for the both of you to register (to sandbag the iR...hooray for everyone?)
Any word on how many entries per split?

Ill work up a paint tonight and see what everyone thinks. I think car count is 43 a split

Well the thing with the splits is definitely a mixed bag. You will be with obviously faster people, so maybe we want to be in a lower split. Then we get dangerous HPDs......so definitely a mixed bag there. I think an average of 1972 will keep us in relatively safe waters though.
What did you guys think of the baseline?

The baseline is fine with me. I want to make a fuel run and see how hot tires and low gas feels...that's where mistakes can be made.

Here's a set slightly modified from baseline. Let me know what you think. It gets a little oversteery near the end but it's a start.

I tried some laps for fun and I am now running quite easy mid to low 1:47s using the set up George posted with the wing set to hole 5 and 0 gurney.

Do you think the tyres would hold up during a full stint? Also, so I take it you are interested in running with us? If you are could you fill out your availability for the race? docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ETlbD1zDrDKkJDsamZ6nrHP0vukQj7uxTrachOhDK1k/edit

Normally I don't like green on a race car (I'm superstitious about racing), but since this is a long-ass race, it might work to our benefit.
I'll be sure to eat peanuts during the stints and throw the shells in the seat.
Does that skin have our names and country flags on the door?

Does that skin have our names and country flags on the door? i was going for a bright color so the faster cars can see us better. U better pick up those shells and no peeing in the seat. The black box has our names, i can add flags but ill prob change where the names go. Im still trying to figure out some kind of stripe or something to go down the side of the car to break up the color alittle more
