Rather than practicing for Brands Hatch, I spent a few hours last Sunday finishing this video (my first YouTube post ever). It was worth it! I'd been putting it off for too long and with a little nudge Tony K. I got it done.
It's a sim racing desk with hand controls I built for my Son, Jacob, last year. I'll be posting it on iRacing and SimPit forums, but wanted to share it here first.

Nothing short of amazing. A true labour of love. Jacob is a lucky guy to have a dad like you. Oh and jacob, you have considerably less off tracks then i do

Glenn, I'm glad that you made a video of this awesome project. You shared some pictures of the desk before and I was just amazed by the work you did but by seeing it on this video it is even more impressive and by far !!! It shows how much work involved in building, head scratching, machining and so on. You've got a lot of hidden talents Congratulation to you for achieving such a project for Jacob, which I'm even more glad to finally see him P.S. to Jason, make sure to eat your vegetables and have fun racing !

Awesome stuff Glen. I got a kick out your counter weight, I have lots of experience using the vice as it was intended This video did put a big smile on my face for two reasons, one for the ingenuity and hard work put into this project, and two to see Jacob on iRacing and having a good time!

Only 2 words to describe that Glenn. Absolutely Amazing. That is pure love for your son. I'm sure watching him use it makes all the time spent designing and building it seem like nothing.
I've seen threads in some of the other racing forums I'm on where someone is asking for wheels with hand controls. I have seen a few designs, but nothing comes even close to what you did there. A load cell brake on a hand control is unbelievable.
You definitely need to post this in the iRacing Forums. There is a special section just for these projects.
Just be ready though. Once this gets out there, you will be getting a lot of requests.
Do you mind if I share the video in some of the other forums I'm on?

That's awesome Glenn.
I laughed at the counterweight. I was like....is that what I think it is?? Is that a set of jaws lol.
Really nice shop you've got there. Do you have a CNC or manual lathe?

Thanks Paul,
It's a very old (but cool) manual lathe. I got it from my dad a few years ago and still trying to learn to use it properly. I did turn one piece for the desk on it, but it took me the entire night. Could have done it faster with a nail file

Love using the manual machines.

Thats what I was trained on, manual mill and lathes. Worked at a machine shop for 3 years. My favorite lathe we had was the Hardinge, probably because it was about half an hour away from where our shop is
